Abstract (EN)

Background: In the nutrition of children aged 1-5; protein-energy malnutrition, cachexia, obesity, anemia etc. problems such as can be seen, in this case create chronic disease in adulthood. Our research; It was aimed to obtain information about the adequacy of the nutritional status of children between the ages of 1-5 by researching their families' nutritional status of knowledge, health literay status and anthropometric measurements. Results: There was no statistically significant relationship between Mother's Attitudes Towards the Feeding Process Scale sub-dimensions mean scores which were negative emotions during a meal, attitudes towards malnutrition/unbalanced nutrition, negative feeding strategies, forced feeding and reaction to the opinion of others, and taking vitamin and mineral, having difficulty starting supplementary food variables. There was a statistically significant relationship between negative emotions during meal (p=0,039) and reaction to the opinion of others (p=0,04) sub-dimensions and having breakfast regularly variable. Meanwhile there was a statistically significant relationship between General Nutrition Knowledge Questionnare's (GNKQ) mean score and education level of the mothers (p=0,00), mother's working status(p=0,00) variables; no statistically significant relationship between GNKQ'S mean score and income status, children's weight, height, and BMI percentiles variables. Conclusions: While the nutritional habits, eating characteristics, behavior and attitudes of the families directly affect the nutritional habits of the child, the income status has an effect on the nutritional habits of the families. The knowledge and attitude of the family about nutrition determine the characteristics of the child.
