Özet (EN)

Master Thesis- Filtration of First Carbonatation Sludge and investigation of Optimum Conditions Hasan TOSRUL University of Fırat Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science Department of Chemical Engineering 1 995, Page 9 1 Vacum filtration was applied at different temparatures ( 70 °C, 80 °C, 85 °C) and filtration pressures such as 200 mmHg, 300 mmHg, 400 mmHg to determine the average spesifik cake resistance of mud obtained from the constant pressure filtration of 1st carbonatation sludge. Average spesific cake resistance was highly dependent on the filtration pressure, which indicates that 1st carbonatation sludge form compressible cakes. The cake compressibility coefficients at 70 °C, 80 °C, 85 °C were calculated as 0.45, 0.45, 0.50, respectively. During the filtration of 1st carbonatation sludge, filtration rate increases with increasing filtration temperature. Diatornaceous earth and perlite were used as filter aid to increase filtration efficiency. The effects of the amount of precoating and body feed concentration on average spesific cake resistance were also studied. The lowest average specific cake resistance 'was obtained with precoating-body feed technique. The equipment used to measure average specific cake resistance was also discussed. Key Words: Filtration, 1st Carbonatation Sludge, Diatomaceous Earth, Perlite, Average Specific Cake Resistance
