Hüseyn B. Hasan El-Helhâlî'nin Beydâvî tefsiri üzerine yaptığı haşiyenin tahkik ve incelemesi (Yasin Suresinden Zümer Suresine kadar)

This academic thesis examines and critically edits "(The Glosses of Hussein bin Hasan al-Khalkhālī (d. 1014 AH) on al-Bayḍāwī 's Tafsir from Surah Ya-Sin to Surah Az-Zumar: A Study and Critical Edition)," and the book is considered one of the most important and valuable linguistic commentaries. This importance stems from the fact that it is a commentary on the commentary of Judge al-Bayḍāwī, which was authored by its writer as an abridgement of al-Zamakhshari's al-Kashshāf. Therefore, attention to it means attention to these two great commentaries, making it a worthwhile endeavor. In its critical edition, three manuscripts from Turkey were relied upon. Furthermore, the study employed a descriptive-historical method when researching the personal and scholarly biographies of al-Bayḍāwī and al-Khalkhālī. In the edited section, the study also adopted a method of comparison, contrast, and commentary by transcribing the text, comparing its versions, noting the differences in the footnotes, and attributing texts and statements to their sources. The study yielded a set of conclusions, most notably: al-Khalkhālī was one of the prominent Sunni scholars in Azerbaijan during his time, excelling in language, commentary, logic, and other fields. He refuted heretical sects such as the Mutazilite's and others on numerous issues, such as his affirmation of the vision of God Almighty on the Day of Judgment and the negation of any likeness or resemblance to the Divine Essence. He was also distinguished by his extensive knowledge, evidenced by the abundance of sources he consulted and his skill in presenting, reconciling, and prioritizing different opinions. Additionally, the glosses contain many exegetical and logical subtleties in the interpretation of these verses, and the commentary includes figures of speech, rhetorical enhancements, grammatical and morphological issues, variant readings, and their justifications. The author did not merely rely on the interpretations of his predecessors, such as al-Bayḍāwī and al-Zamakhshari, in explaining the verses. Rather, he comprehended their views, analyzed their expressions, and clarified what was problematic. Sometimes, he critiqued their statements and selected the most plausible VII opinion that aligned with the meaning of the verses, guided by evidence and his own scholarly reasoning. He supported his choices with corroborating statements from accomplished commentators, linguists, and others, resulting in a rich, comprehensive, and engaging book that serves as an important source for clarifying ambiguities and resolving difficulties in a rigorous and captivating scholarly style.
