Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the state and trait anxiety levels of 11-12 age group swimmers according to gender, age, swimming age, family income level, and parents' education level. Material-Method: The research method is a descriptive method based on quantitative inquiry and its model is a general survey model. The population of the study is 321 swimmers in the 11-12 age group who participated in the regional competition organized by the Turkish Swimming Federation, and the sample group was 217 swimmers, 113 men and 104 women. The State and Trait Anxiety Inventory, which was developed by Spielberg in 1976 and adapted into Turkish by Öner and Le Compte, was used as data collection tool. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 statistical package program. While the normal distribution assumption is tested in the analysis of the data, first the skewness and kurtosis coefficients for the data were calculated. In the study, t test, One-Way Anova test and sheff test were used and Pearson correlation coefficient was analyzed to review the relationship between the data. Results: According to gender, state anxiety levels of males were found to be higher than females. It was observed that trait and state anxiety levels did not differ according to age and family income level. It was determined that the trait anxiety level of swimmers 6 years and above according to swimming age was lower than the group with both 1 month and 1 year and 4-5 years swimming age. In addition, trait anxiety levels of those whose parents were educated at primary education level were found to be higher than those who received higher education level. Conclusion: In the study, it was concluded that the trait anxiety levels of the swimmers were higher than the state anxiety levels and there was an inverse relationship between both state and trait anxiety levels. Key words: 11-12 Years Old Swimmers, State Anxiety, Trait Anxiety
