Abstract (EN)
The success people achieve throughout their lives and their relationship with the people around them take shape by the skills they basically have. Social and emotional skills come forward as the ones that shape the socialization and life-long success of people. Social and emotional skills that are formed through the interaction with family and society since birth are learnable attaintments and parent attitude has an important role in forming these skills. In this research the relationship is studied between the parent attitude and social and emotional learning skills. In the study, the data is obtained from 114 participants of 11-14 years of 5th 6th 7th and 8th graders analyzed with statistical methods. As data collection tool, Parental Attitudes Scale that is developed by Eldeliklioğlu(1996) and Social and Emotional Learning Scale that is improved by Kabakçı and Owen (2010) are used. According to research findings, it is understood that students have a higher perception of protector and headrequester parental attitude, students' social and emotional learning skills are above the middle level, there is a significant relationship between parental attitudes with their all sub-dimensions and social- emotional learning skills. While the findings in the literature point out the positive effects of democratic parental attitude, in this research it is found out that the positive effect of protector and headrequester parental attitude is higher . In conclusion, it is understood that there is a meaningful relationship statistically between the parental attitudes and the parental attitudes of students; protector and headrequester parental attitudes affect students' social and emotional learning skills more compared to other parental attitudes.
