Abstract (EN)

This study mainly questions the nature of industry and trade of Azerbaijan and Georgia through the industrial and trade records belonging to the XI and XV centuries. Firstly, it was tried to provide information about the geography and political situation of the region. The geography of Azerbaijan and Georgia includes a large region. Due to the fact that the cities in the region vary according to geographical and political formations, it has been tried to present the cities by dividing them into periods. In addition, Azerbaijan and Georgia have entered under the auspices of many states due to the fact that the region is located in an important geographical position between Asia and Europe. Although the Kingdom of Georgia has established dominance in the region for many years, it is observed that many states have been established on the geography of Azerbaijan. This situation has contributed to the formation of different cultures. Each state has contributed to the development of cities by making investments in the lands it dominates. There were more investment activities, especially in the cities designated as the capital. According to the information provided by sources, it is observed that industry and trade are developing in the cities of Azerbaijan and Georgia. Information about the branches of industry in the region has been tried to be presented. Although there were many branches of industry in the region, the weaving industry was of great importance. Especially Azerbaijan carpets were very famous and were an important weaving product preferred in many regions. With Tabriz becoming the capital of the Ilkhanate State in the XIII th century, Tabriz began to come to the fore more and more, and weaving workshops were also established here, making important contributions to the economic structure of the state. As a result of the favorable climatic conditions of the region, crops could be grown without the need for too much irrigation in agricultural production. In the arid areas, water channels were opened and attempts were made to irrigate agricultural areas. Medieval authors mention Azerbaijan's agricultural products with praise as an abundant and fertile land when conveying information about Azerbaijan. One of the important areas of activity of the people was agriculture. Agricultural products such as saffron, grain and cotton occupied an important place. Finally, important trade routes also passed through the region, as Azerbaijan and Georgia served Decently as a bridge between Asia and Europe. The establishment of internal and external trade relations was discussed by providing information about trade routes, trade elements, trade development and trade negativities in the region. The fact that important trade routes pass through the region has made significant contributions to the development of trade potential in the region. As a result of the high demand for manufactured products in domestic and foreign Sundays, cities have also experienced great developments. Upon the fact that trade provides great economic benefits for states, state managers have given special importance to the development of commercial activities. Gazan Khan and Uzun Hasan, on the other hand, have made some reform movements, prepared a law and revised the tax regulations that pose problems in trade.
