With this purpose, the first part is allotted to the main factors that have influenced the relations between the two sides (geography, corruption, drug trafficking, military interventions) along with the policies conducted by the external actors and the chronology of the relations. Bilateral relations in the post-September 11 period come next, with a particular focus on H. Karzai's political preferences and NATO operations.
