Social and economic situation of Tokat according to the Tereke Book no 117

Şer'iyye Registers are important boks that enable us to have information about economic and social life. Court records kept by kadis. These records are stored. The Şer'iyye Registers contain the correspondence between the state and the judges, the complaints and requests of the people and by looking at these records, a large amount of information about the social life and economy of a city can be obtained. There are also estate records in the Şer'iyye registers and by looking at these records, we learn the cultural structures and socio-economic status of the people in that record. We get information about the social and economic structure of the Ottoman Empire. This information gives clues about that period. In this study, firstly, information about the Şer'iyye registers is given and the concept of estate is explained. Then, the family structure, administrative structure, social and economic structure in the Tokat city estate records were examined and evaluations were made according to the Tereke Registers No. 117 of the city of Tokat. In the study we have examined, there is information such as the place where the estate owners live, their marital status, jobs, titles, heirs, an the gender of the heirs. At the same time, the goods used by the estate owners are included. The period in which we are working in the registers No. 117 coincides with the First World War. In this study, information about the First World War was given and evaluations were made about how Tokat's economy was during the war years, an evaluation was tried to be put forward based on two records in the Tereke records. In this study, there are tables with the goods left by the estate owners. An evaluation has been made by looking at these properties left by the estate owners.
