Investigation of respiratory function, echocardiography, some physical and anthropometric parameters on 12-16 years old females basketballers

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the affects of a 12-week training program on female?s echocardiography, respiratory, some physical and anthropometric parametres.The study was performed with thirty female (Control Group), between 12 and 16 years old, who didn't participated to the summer sports schools and with at the same age thirty female (Experimental Group) who participated to the summer sports schools. An interval training program for basketball was applied to the experimental group during 12 weeks and 5 days a week .Height, weight, subcutaneous fat thickness and body fat percentages of experimental and control groups were measured. Besides, echocardiography and pulmonary function tests were applied.The analysis of the obtained data was performed with statistical package program. Wilcoxon test was used for normal distribition data, dependent t-test and non-normal distribition data. The Mann-Whitney U test was applied on the data to compare in order to experimental group with the control group and datas were evaluated at meaningfulness level of 0.05.At the pre and the past measurements of experimental group, ther was statistically significant differences in body fat percentages, height, Abdominal, Midaxilla, Suprailiac parameters. In the test of pulmonary function, force vital capacity force and percentage, force expiratory volume and percentage and the average force expiratory volume of force vital capacity force parameters, the test of echocardiography left atrium and doppler spade late diastolic current (A wave) parameters were statistically significant (P<0.05). Meaningful difference were no observed in other parameters.As a result, it can be said that basketball interval trainings have a increase of the height, weight, respiratory function capacity and thinkness in cardiac wall, a decrease of the some fat thinkness of female?s.Key Words: Basketball, training, respiration, echocardiography, anthropometry.
