Abstract (EN)
The military coup in 1960 was an anti-democratic attempt, yet it is at the same time an action that ensured the liberation of Turkish political life. The development of Turkish left which almost underwent a period of revival after May 27, 1960 continued its mission with a great acceleration and along with student activism that took place in 1968 and Czechoslovakia event, owing to parliamentary approaches of Turkish Labor Party (TLP) to such incidents, the party experienced a breaking period. The divisions in the left were not parallel to the Marxist developments in the world and misperceptions of Marx?s interpretations in the country, pacifism of TLP and the inability to channel the youth in a disciplined organization caused the left not to recover again. The process interrupted by the coup in March 12, 1971 continued its way in the drunkenness of 1974 amnesty. Unable to solve the problems it had, the left could not gain its strength again and led to the continuation of this situation until today. During the period in question, the journal ANT was published between 1967 and 1971 and it took an important role in the left press by advocating independent, liberal and scientific socialism and thus contributed to the development of consciousness of socialism in Turkey. At the same time it affected the agenda of the country and realized the political education of the left in the later periods. In the second half of the 1960s, when the tensions of the Cold War were eased and student activism accelerated, left was examined again and when concepts different from classical left took place, Ant adopted an understanding which made people feel national practices of the left. Considering the problems of the period when Turkish Left was under discussion, this study aimed at analyzing the journal Ant by examining the published articles thematically. Basically Ant?s view of the Justice Party, the Republican Public Party and the discourse of left of the middle, the Turkish Labor Party, politicization of university youth, laborer movements and problem of the East were among the topics investigated. In the section titled as Ant and Foreign Policy, again with a thematic approach Cyprus problem, the Middle East, the United States of America and NATO, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Czechoslovakia and China. Keywords: Socialism, Marxism, ANT, Fascism, Capitalism.
