Abstract (EN)

After the 1071 Malazgirt Victory, we see that Anatolia became a Turkish homeland in a relatively short time. Turkish beys were sent to Anatolia by the Great Seljuk Empire to carry out various settlement and construction activities. Both the experiences they had in Central Asia and Iran, and the traditions, cultures they encountered in Anatolia, prepared the ground for the Turks to create a new synthesis in Anatolia. Based on this historical reality, despite the presence of many different elements in Anatolia, the fact that the Turks made an original civilizational breakthrough in a short period of time, the effects of which we can still see today, is a matter that should be carefully considered and meticulously examined. How the Anatolian Seljuks emerged and developed in a geography ranging from Hittites to Sumerians, from Christianity to pagan religions, from Hellenistic tradition to Greco-Roman culture, and built on all of this richness, should be evaluated in every possible way. The fact that artistic activities cannot be independent from the experiences of a nation, the environment it is in, the character it has, and the insufficiency of primary sources on that period; underlines the importance of Anatolian Seljuk art. In this study, we aim to interpret the political-cultural environment of the Anatolian Seljuk period through art. Keywords: Anatolia, Art, Culture, Civilization, Seljuk.
