Abstract (EN)

The aim of our study is to provide information about the operating system of ballot boxes based on the Inventory books kept in Orphan Chests. The Orphan Ministry was established in 1851 for the preservation and evaluation of the properties inherited to orphans in the Ottoman Empire. This supervision was converted to the directorship level a year later (1851).Its organization in the provinces began to spread intensely since the 1880s and continued until 1910.İn according to the changing conditions. Changes often were made in the Orphan Administration in the historical process. Established with the understanding of the Social State, Orphan Funds have prepared laws and regulation to protect the rights of all individuals in need, regardless of religion, lnguage, race org ender. The state provided income for these people by operating their assets in funds. The who wanted to borrow money, especially tradesmen, from Orphan Funds were given Money within acertain provision (mortgage), thus contributing to the economy. The Covered Retention Book for Antalya Orphan Fund, dated 1922-1924 consist of a total of 100pages. How can a person borrow money from the ballot box? How is the surety shown when borrowing? Answers to such questions can be found in the Inventory Book. Our study onsists of our main topics. İn the introduction, the historical process regarding the place of orphans in Turkish and İslamic law is discussed. İn the first part, legal terminology related to orphans is emphasized. İn the second part, information about the establishment and organization of the Orphan Ministry (Directorate) are given. İn the third part, in the management of the funds and the establishment of Antalya Orphan Administration are emphasized. İn the fourth part, the transcription of the notebook kept by Antalya Orphan between 1922-1924 is given. İn the fifth and last chapter, a general evaluation of the Notebook is made.
