16. President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu's vievs on religious and moral education

In the context of religious and moral education, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, which has an important position in terms of its mission and vision, and the people who manage and guide this institution as the President and the ideas of these people have a special importance in this sense. Based on this, the 16th President of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu, has been the subject of research. Indeed, he was brought up with a deep knowledge of law, has been a transformative figure in Turkey's religious-political life, and is an important and valuable Islamic thinker with his identity as an educator, academician, jurist, and administrator, as well as his works on religion, books, sunnah, religion and society, Islamic morality, piety, Islamic law, religion and state, secularism, religious education and teaching, and moral education. In addition, he served in the Presidency of Religious Affairs, where widespread religious education activities were carried out extensively, for seven years. In these respects, he is a well-known, successful cleric and administrator with his works that contribute to the field of religious and moral education. Bardakoğlu, in his studies on concepts such as religion, religiosity, religion-state, morality and education based on the Islamic religion, mentions that Islam prioritizes the formation of a secure society and a reliable society based on a secure person. He says that there is an unbreakable bond between religion, religiosity and morality with both the otherworldly and worldly transparent accountability dimension. He also emphasizes the importance of worship practices, behavioral models and education on the profile of sincere religiosity. He states that religious worship practices will essentially provide experience and contribution to the moral behavior of the religious person. Bardakoğlu also evaluates issues such as religion, religiosity and morality and religious education in terms of human law. On the other hand, Bardakoğlu emphasized the widespread religious education activities he carried out in scientific environments such as conferences and panels organized on various occasions during his term as the Presidency of Religious Affairs.
