17th century Ottoman language among society: Text and language properties of Bozkirî's Zemmü'l-Fenâ

The period starting from the second half of 15th Century and continueing until the middle of 19th century is defined as Classical Ottoman Turkish Period. The XVII. century is a transition period from Old Anatolian Turkish to Reform Era Ottoman Turkish (from the XIX to the XX. century). During this period, Ottoman Turkish progressed at a simple and understandable level that large masses could read and understand, on the other hand, it developed in two ways as a heavy and artistic written language that could be understood by its higher class. This study is a comparative textual analysis on the four copies of Zemmü'l-Fenâ, which is a versified work of 17th century mevize (sermon). The study, consist of Introduction, Language Analysis, Text, Dictionary and Facsimile chapters. In the introduction, there is a brief information about the Classical Era Ottoman Turkish of Ottoman Turkish and general information about Zemmü'l-Fenâ, such as, the author, subject, copies and style of the work. In the analysis part, the spelling properties, phonetic, morphology, word groups and sentences of the text were examined. In the text section, critical edition study was made of on the four copies of Zemmü'l-Fenâ as mentioned above. In the dictionary section, the meanings of the words in the text are given and two sample couplets are given for each of these words. Facsimile of the original work is also added to the study.
