Plague in 17th century Ottoman sources

Plague has existed in the Ottoman lands for a certain period of time since the Ottoman Empire emerged on the stage of history as a political entity. Because the state served as a bridge between regions, had commercial relations with the surrounding states, was on the trade route and had active port cities, the disease was effective in the Ottoman lands for a long time. In the sources of the period; It has been observed that most of the epidemics occur after a natural disaster. The plague epidemics that took place in cities with important locations such as Edirne, Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir, their symptoms, the measures taken and the treatment methods, the number of deaths and the names of important people who died, the behaviors of the state and the people against the disease were reflected in the works. In this study, the plague epidemic in Ottoman resources in the 17th century was handled and the effects of the epidemic in social, economic, military and other fields were tried to be revealed as a whole.
