Nabi, who lived between 1642 and 1712, is one of the poets of Divan literature. This thesis is based on his 1772 poems in his Divan. After an analysis of his Divan, 1753 elements regarding social life of his time are detected, and these elements are classified and evaluated according to their themes. In his Divan there are hints about many topics related to his time. Some of these topics can be listed as follows: social formation of Ottoman society in 17th century, traditions, practices of faith and behavior, entertainment, food and clothing, goods, centers of population, illnesses and treatment styles, crimes and punishment methods, sport activities, communication and vehicles of transportation. The poet uses these topics in artistic ways in his poems. In addition to these topics the poet gives clues about political, economical and social problems of the Ottoman Empire in 17th century. Among these topics the poet mostly uses social formation and traditions.
