Analysis of the mevlevi rites composed in the 17th century in terms of form

In this study, the Mevlevi rite form, which is one of the extensive and comprehensive verbal forms in Classical Turkish Music, has been examined in detail. The Ayins composed in the 17th century by Kutbünnâyi Osman Dede, Kûçek Derviş Mustafa, and Buhûrîzâde Mustafa Itrî Efendi have been analyzed in terms of their formal aspects. Research on the Mevlevî rite form, with its earliest known examples dating back to the 17th century, has been reviewed, and the definitions found in written sources about the form have been discussed. The findings from these analyses have been compared. The study was initiated with the idea that, like other verbal music forms, Ayins are composed with a symmetrical structure. The study sought a concrete answer to whether the Mevlevî rite pieces composed in that century had a formal arrangement. The structure of the form has been categorized and tabulated by dividing it into "selams," and it was found that the form is divided into sections within these selams, with each section being composed using different lyrics. The study concludes that the sections in the 17th-century Mevlevi Ayins were composed in various forms such as murabba, nakış, müselles, müseddes, müsenna, etc., similar to other verbal forms.
