Abstract (EN)

In our thesis, our goal was to establish a map that shows mysticelements of classic folk poetry. In order to analyze these elements inmentality of folk poetry world, we reviewed 17th century?s saz (stringed, mandolin like music instrument) poets? poems because they are the finest artof Âşık (Minstrel, Lover of God) Literature. When we take into considerationthat Âşık Literature is strongly influenced by Sufism and later distanced fromit, in Âşık tradition of folk literature in some parts we see mystically orientedIn our text centered approach of our study, the poems of 17thsymbols.century?s Aşıks; Gevheri, Kayıkçı Kul Mustafa, Âşık Ömer, Karacaoğlan, andErcişli Emrah are read one by one and mystic elements of God relatedsubjected poems are extracted and reviewed under different titled groups. Atthe end of the study a table is formed by different topics and a map of mysticelements of Âşık?s poems is established. By this kind of study, one part ofTurkish culture- the elements of Sufism in poems- is introduced in detail. Forinstance, one of the main concepts of Sufism, the subject of Hakikat (reality)which is reviewed under related topic group, the Poet Gevheri composed thebelief of 4 doors-40 ranks that is known as the base of Bektaşi Tradition.Kayıkçı Kul Mustafa also, in one quatrain, emphasized on the subject of ?arif?which is the last rank of reaching the level of knowing Allah. Âşık Ömer onthe other hand, illustrated the thoughts of ?Vahdet(Oneness)? and ?Kesret(Multiplicity)? together under related topic group when he composed thesubject of ?Didar? meant observing Godly beauty in Sufism. In our research, in the poems of Karacaoğlan who is known as FolkÂşık and Ercişli Emrah also mystic elements are found. Karacaoğlan asksfrom Hoca (master) the meaning of edep (manner), erkan (high officials),dede (accestor)-abdal (a religious devotee) and kul (servant, creature). ErcişliEmrah on the other hand, refers to the subject of ?gaflet? which meant humanbeings, as slaves of God, not knowing and not being aware of God.By this study, in the 17th century when we think of Âşık Literature, thefirst five top Aşıks included mystical elements in their poems and that informus that they did not stay out from Sufistic thoughts as the time andenvironment they live in. These are the signs of mutual thoughts andperceptions in poems among the top personalities of folk poetry, Gevheri,Kayıkçı Kul Mustafa, Aşık Ömer, Karacaoğlan, and Ercişli Emrah whocomposed similar feelings in linguistic and poemic form.
