Abstract (EN)

The Russian State was aiming to expand to the Balkans and the Mediterranean by capturing the northern Black Sea coasts from the reign of Tsar Peter I. In line with this goal, the Russian government decided to organize an expedition to the Ottoman-Tatar lands during the reign of Tsarina Anna, who was the successor of Peter. The Ottoman-Russian war started when the Russians attacked the Azov castle in 1736. In 1737, with the Austrian State's involvement in the war against the Ottomans on the side of Russia, the Turks had to fight on both fronts. In the end, the Austrians had to ask for peace with the siege of the Belgrade fortress by the grand vizier Ivaz Mehmed Pasha. The Ottoman State signed a separate peace treaty first with Austria and then with Russia. With the 1739 Belgrade Peace Treaty, the Ottomans defeated both allied states and signed their last profitable treaty on European lands. The aim of the thesis is to explain the reasons why the Ottomans could not show the same success of the Austrian front on the Russian front in the 1736-1739 Wars. In addition, our main goal is to reveal the main reasons for the failure of the Crimean Tatars against the Russians.
