Abstract (EN)

Ottoman Empire 19th In parallel with Westernization throughout the century, it makes arrangements in the fields of administrative, legal and education in order to re-establish the political and financial central authority in domestic politics, as well as the demands and pressures of European states. As in all Ottoman cities, the urban space undergoes a change in Bursa as well. Bursa becomes the center of the Hüdavendigar Province, which was created in 1868, which includes Balıkesir, Afyon and Kütahya, and with the transition from state administration to provincial administration and the establishment of municipalities, administrative structures began to be built in the city. The city is restructured, its classic face begins to gain a brand new look as a necessity of modernization. In the Ottoman Empire, which made some innovations by taking the military and technical power of the West as an example, in this period known as "Westernization" or "Opening to the West" and when European styles were adapted to Turkish architecture, Bursa became one of the cities where this process was successfully implemented. İncome In this period, it is seen that some elements taken from the West were used in the architectural decoration program together with the architecture. These decorations, which we encounter in examples of civil architecture in Bursa, are wall paintings. While this study provides the opportunity to evaluate the 19th century Bursa through murals, it will also provide to recognize and understand the place of Bursa, which has never been investigated in the Anatolian mural painting tradition before, in this programming.
