18th century flute repertory

The flute is one of the oldest instruments in the human history, as well as the most evolved instruments amongst the others. Therefore, the study begins by explaining the structural progress of the flute in the historical periods, mentions the usage in Ancient Greek, Middle Ages and Renaissance, speaks of its transformation until 18th century. In the second part of the study, the music of European countries is mentioned in general, the composers who wrote flute music according to their nationalities are explained briefly and the flute works they wrote are indicated. The third part is the literature section of the study. Main music forms are described briefly, the extant works written in described forms are listed in alphabetical order by composers. The fact that the works of 18th century flute music were listed in this way provided a useful source for the flutists who were interested in this music. The study is intended to contribute to the solo flute and chamber music curricula of the conservatories as well as being a useful resource for musicians interested in 18th century music.
