Social and economic structure of the Cami-i Atik, Kozlugüney, Gerze countries according to the Zonguldak Devrek Temettuat Book dated 1845

The Ottoman Empire is an empire that has existed for many years. One of the most important resources that can be used to reach the social and economic characteristics of the state is the Dividend registers. As a result of the innovations in the financial field in the 19th century, namely the reorganization period, it is the Dividend book that gives us information about many subjects including the district, village, neighborhood, people at that time, taxpayers, the amount they paid, their professions, the properties they owned, and the number of animals. Since censuses were also held on the same dates, it also contains detailed information on the census point. We evaluated the social and economic status of the people living in Devrek neighborhoods and villages between 1844-1845 (H.1260-1261) by transcribing the dividends records numbered 3374, 3375, 3376, 3380. Thus, the names, nicknames, occupations and the animals and lands they owned in the region were discussed and information was given about the social-economic structure of Cami-i Atik, Kozlugüney and Gerze village villages in Devrek. In addition to these, the fact that we put the data obtained in our study into a table has made it a source. Our work consists of three parts. In the first part, the social status of dividend records is explained together with the evaluations and tables we created in the light of the data we obtained from the existing records. In the second part, the economic situation of dividend records is explained. The third chapter includes the transcription of the original text.
