Social and economic structure of Çatak, Güreşler, Domanot, Devrek, Başlar, Kuzköyü villages according Zonguldak Devrek Temettüat Register

One of the most important of the Tanzimat reforms carried out in the 19th century was in the economic field. Accordingly, taxes were collected under a single heading and counts were made. The censuses were recorded in the temettuat books, which provide information about the social and economic history of the Tanzimat period. From these registers, which include animal, real estate and land counts; it was possible to reach information such as taxpayers, their property, income and expenses, the amount of tax they will pay, and which professional group they belong to.This study evaluated the social and economic status of the people living in Devrek neighborhoods and villages, which were built between 1844-184 (H. 1260-1261), by transcribing the temettuat notebooks numbered 3337, 3369, 3370, 3372, 3387 and 3390. Thus, the names, nicknames, professions and the animals and lands they owned were discussed and information was given about the social and economic structure of the town of Devrek. In addition to these, the data obtained in the study were tabulated and turned into a systematic resourc.
