Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the figure of religious man in Turkish theatre plays will be examined. This study is based on the religious man characters in the texts written until 1923 and on rural drama reached today. The stories of rural drama plays whose content was accessible, middle play (orta oyun) and encomiast (meddah) stories were also included in this study to see if there were periodic differences. The aim of this study is to determine how the religious man in Turkish theater is perceived. The other aim of this study is to reveal the authors' attitude towards religious man depending on the religious man in written theater texts.Besides this, the question this study wants to answer is; Is there a significant periodic difference in the figures of religious man of people having theater events? All the resources used in this research (essays, articles, books, theater texts and other researches) are tried to be explained by analyzing one by one and in this study, inductive method is used.
