19th and 20th century English orientalists and Arabic language studies

Orientalism is also defined as the study of the East by the West. According to this definition, orientalism is a general name given to the disciplines that examine and study the East. Orientalist is defined as a person who researches the culture, language, literature, art, politics of the East, and produces works about the East or the Orient. British orientalists of the 19th and 20th centuries made important studies in the field of Arabic language and literature. They have had a significant impact both with their studies on the Arabic language and their translation studies. This study focuses on the studies of British orientalists in the field of Arabic language and literature in the 19th and 20th centuries. Although there are many studies on the works of orientalists in Turkish and foreign literature, there is a lack of studies and effects of British orientalists who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries in the field of Arabic language and literature. Therefore, within the scope of the study, the effects of English orientalists in the field of Arabic language and literature by revealing the lives, works and effects of the orientalists who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries, the question of whether the orientalists contributed to the Arabic language and literature is aimed. The most important result obtained as a result of the study was the matter of understanding, explaining and contributing to the Arabic language and literature on a scientific basis, rather than approaching the Arabic language on the basis of the English and positioning it within the framework of the West's perspective.
