Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the change of timber construction systems in Istanbul due to the scientific and industrial developments in the second half of the 19th century. The change is basically traced through first hand written documents like cost estimates, cost journals, construction contracts, summary estimates kept by the officials of Ottoman Inner Treasury and newspapers, textbooks or photographs published in Ottoman Istanbul.
