Education competition between catholic jesuits and protestant missionaries in Syria and Lebanon provinces in the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the 19th century

In this study, the educational competition between Catholic missionaries and Protestant missionaries in Syria and Lebanon will be discussed in the second half of the 19th century. In the area to be explored, the struggle of the Jesuits and the American Protestant missionaries, who have more activities than the other missionaries, will be discussed in detailed. By examining the educational activities of the Protestant and Catholic missionaries in the Ottoman Empire, it will be revealed what kind of struggle these two sects are trying to gather supporters and add new people to their churches. It will be examined in this research whether the struggle between the two sects causes changes in the region and the people of the region and whether the activities benefit. Numerical data will be tried to be answered in the light of the concrete information on the question of which side has completed this competition ahead by considering the information and opinions of the two parties. Throughout the research, both sides looked at the window, thinking about each other, forms of competition, advantages / disadvantages, etc. will be focused on.
