The events of Crete in 1908-1913

In Crete, a revolt which was started by Greeks in 1895, can notestinguished by Ottomans and then Greece occupied the island on Februrary1897. In this connection European states which were not want to start Turk-Greek war, take control of administration of the island by military forces. In1897 after the declaration of the autonomy because of the keeping ofconfusion England, French, Russia and Italy claimed that Ottoman soldiersresponsible for that events and then take out Turk soldiers in Crete onNovember 1898. European states, which were take control of Crete, decidedto leave the island to Greece and in 1908 they started to evacuation theisland.Crete Greeks announced that the island annexed for the Greece.European states which were not want to demolish the connections of newOttoman goverment, announced that they didn?t recognize this annex, butthey didn?t interference to Greeks for applying the Greek laws and attackingto the Müslims. Society of Union and Progress, which defended to not give acompensation of Ottomans sovereignty in Crete, couldn?t do anything withoutprotesting for the response of this Greeks activities.
