Vakit nespaper is a long-running publication that has made a name for itself in the history of Turkish press with its activities between 1917-1959. It was founded in 1917 with the partnership of Ahmet Emin Yalman and Mehmet Asım Us, and its editors-in-chief was Ahmet Emin Yalman. After Ahmet Emin Yalman left Vakit in 1923, the management of the newspaper was taken over bu Mehmet Asım Us, Hakkı Tarık Us and Hasan Rasim Us, known as the "Us Brothers". After this period, Mehmet Asım Us undertook the position of editör-in-chief. Upon Atatürk's proposal, Vakit newspaper was renamed as Kurun in 1934 and continued to be published under this name until Atatürk's death. Starting from World War I, Vakit newspaper covered many political and social events that took place in the country such as the War of Independence, the declaration of the Republic, and the reforms. Vakit, which also attaches great importance to literature, has published serials of copyrighted and translated novel reviews, stories, poems and theater plays throughout its publishing life. In addition to these, Vakit gave wide coveage to theoretical articles and criticism articles of the genres, articals, interviews, surveys and anecdotes about the periods and personalities of Türkish literature. In the studay titled "Literaray Activities in Vakit Newspaper bertween 1917-1938", the literary activites of Vakit newspaper between 1917-1938 were tried to be analyzed from a broad perspective based on its literary articles.
