Identity of dersim women from 1938 to present: Identity transformation of Alevi Kurdish women over three generations of Dersim

There has been a deep strain between cultural identities and modern mono-type identity design of nation states in recognition of nation states on the world stage. We have witnessed that this strain has caused very staggering and irrevocable transformations in societies during this century. Dersim and the people of this region has seen morre than their share of suffering from those staggering and irrevocable transformations as well. As a matter of a feminist approach to political sociology perspective, it is essential to examine how Dersimi women who are identified as the symbols of cultural identities has been affected from the nation state and its policies, especially identity policies and what are the results of this historical process. That is why this thesis is an attempt to understand how and to which extent Dersimi women has been affected by modern nation state constuctions by asking three generations of ordinary Dersimi women themselves who have been experienced those processes. This study is on the inspection of exposing continiuties, transformations and discountinities of the multiple and "intersectional" identity experiences of Dersimi women who transferred the particular cultural textures to the next generations.
