1939 New York Dünya Fuarı'nda Türkiye

An international fair was held in April in New York City, USA. The reason for organizing the fair was to celebrate American independence and the 150th anniversary of the USA Constitution, and the first American President George Washington to read the American declaration of independence in 1789. Nevertheless, this fair, which naturally has economic implications, was aimed at improving the American economy, which suffered heavily in the 1929 World Economic Crisis. This international fair, apart from Germany, which made preparations for World War II, almost all of the great states and close to 60 members from different nationalities also participated and Turkey was among the countries that participated in the fair. The main aim of Turkey was to inform about the developments and developments made under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and to promote Turkey and Turkish culture to the world public. In addition, the negative image of the "barbarian Turkish and black (Arab) Turk" in the world, especially in the US, was also wished to be erased. Another goal that Turkey hopes to achieve through the fair is to sign a number of trade agreements that will benefit the country's economy by establishing international trade relations. Starting in September 1939, when Germany invaded Poland, The World War II did not allow this fair to continue further. In addition, the financial difficulties of the fair and the terrorist movement against the fair - the explosion of a clock bomb in the fair area - led to the end of this international organization on 31 October 1939.
