Nazim Hikmet phenomenon in the 1940 generation socialist Turkish poetry

Nazım Hikmet, who has steered a new direction to art life by stating 'We are demolishing the idols', is one of the innovational poets whose impact are still lasting on Turkish poetries. Forty Generation Socialist Realist poets are the first followers of him. These poets are accepting Nazım Hikmet as a master. They are applying the things they have learnt from Nazım Hikmet in their poems. On the other hand they are expressing the value they have given to Nazım Hikmet in their poems and other articles. In this study, the way of being impressed of Forty Generation Socialist Realist poets from Nazım Hikmet and bringing him as a subject of their poems will be observed through the articles. Nazım Hikmet's place in the poets' articles will be searched. The relation of Nazım Hikmet and Forty Generation, which is constantly being stated but not dealt with concrete data, will be tried to be asserted. The aim of the study is not critising or judging the mythologizing Nazım Hikmet by Forty Generation poets but revealing and trying to understand the mythologizing with its reasons with reference to the native and foreign literature through the articles. The study is limited by ten poets from Socialist Realist Forty Generation poets. However when the occasion arises other poets were also discoursed. The relation between the poets and Nazım Hikmet and his poems has been asserted through the ten poets' articles such as biography, memoir, letter, critique. Then the significant impact of Nazım Hikmet on the poets' peoms (in terms of content, expression, style and language) has been searched and the similarities have been determined. The poets' praise poems for Nazım Hikmet, the expressions for glorification of Nazım Hikmet and making hidden or clear references to Nazım Hikmet have been determined through the articles. According to this it has been clearly seen that Forty Generation poets are including their masters in their art in terms of his life, not only the articles The positivist analysis and intertextuality method of comparative literature has been helpful in these observations.
