1946-1950 approaches of journalist members of parliament to the Democratic Party

The year 1946, the beginning of multi-party life in the political life of the Republic of Turkey, has an important place in Turkish political life. With the Republic, a number of changes occurred in the state and society. One of these is the printing press or the press. The active use of the press by the rulers became more obvious in the 19th century and the rulers used the press and the press to further increase their legitimacy. From time to time, they tried to appear more legitimate by taking them in. The press remained as a legacy from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Turkey. This continuity also manifested itself in the Republic of Turkey, which was established after the National Struggle, and efforts were made to create a more free and democratic environment in the press. When we look at the professions of deputies in the Republic of Turkey, it is seen that deputies of journalist origin have been present in the parliament in every period. In this study, the subject of our research is the approach of journalist MPs who served in the TBMM between 1946-1950 to the Democratic Party. In the period of 1946-1950, when even newspapers became party spokespersons, the attitudes of the deputies writing in newspapers, their interest in or criticism of the opposition party constitute an important point. In this period, which we examined in the context of the activities of journalist deputies in the parliament and their writings in the publications, their perspectives on the Democratic Party were tried to be analyzed.
