Abstract (EN)
Anthology is a compilation of works by a writer, poet, or artist, selected based on specific criteria. Anthologies serve various purposes, such as reflecting literary heritage, preserving works, identifying the literary tendencies of a period, and increasing the visibility of authors and their works. While anthologies are prepared in nearly all branches of fine arts, they are especially prominent in the field of literature. In Turkish literature, anthologies in their modern sense first emerged during the Tanzimat period, initially focusing on poetry but later expanding to include prose, short stories, and novels. This study examines anthologies prepared in Turkish literature between 1950 and 1970. It aims to identify common and differing features among these anthologies and to evaluate their contributions to Turkish literary tradition. "The Introduction" section provides information on the definition, types, classification methods, and development of anthologies, as well as their historical progression in Western and Turkish literature. It also outlines the general characteristics of Turkish literature between 1950 and 1970. The first chapter discusses poetry anthologies related to Divan, Folk, and Western-influenced Turkish literature, as well as thematic and period-encompassing anthologies. The second chapter analyzes prose anthologies published during the same period. The third chapter presents information about the compilers of these anthologies and their selection approaches. In the Conclusion, findings from the examined anthologies, categorized under poetry, novel, short story, and prose, are evaluated to reveal their impact on the literary understanding of the era.
