Abstract (EN)

This thesis analyzes chosen cello techniques from the year 1950 onwards. In the first section, the changes taking place on a global scale, the method in which composers adapted to these changes, the trends in music which occurred during this time and the ever-changing and upwards scaling nature of music has been described. The second section analyzes the general impression towards new techniques and an explanation of them has been highlighted. In the final section, an analysis of said new techniques in chosen pieces has been reviewed. The thesis has been prepared to act as a learning tool and means of reference for those who play the cello, so that they may access the methods in which these techniques were brought about in a concise source. Alongside these new techniques the limits of instruments have also expanded and musicians have been able to harness the power of their creativity to bring about new tones. While selecting the musical pieces to be analyzed, special care was allocated towards the differentiation and variety of the new techniques.
