Development of original print art in Turkey after 1950 and examination of samples from Suleyman Saim Tekcan's prints

Since their existence, people have needed to communicate with each other in order to continue their lives. In the beginning, people left various symbols and visual messages on cave walls and rock fragments in order to communicate with each other and to convey something to those who came after them. These symbols and visual messages; is cave paintings, prints made with various materials, traces, stamps and seals. Traces, stamps and seals made on different surfaces unearthed in different civilizations are accepted as the first print examples. The fact that communication came out of the cave walls and started to be used on printed materials such as paper today brought about the discovery and development of printing techniques. With the establishment of printing workshops in Turkey, the techniques applied in the West have been applied in our country and have been developed and delivered to the present day. The types of prints that continue to be produced traditionally have come to life as an art field under the name of original printing with the inclusion of design. Süleyman Saim Tekcan, one of the important names of the Turkish original printing art, has made great contributions to the Turkish printing art with his designs and his own original techniques, and has directed his original printing works by bringing new perspectives to the printing techniques he uses. The aim of this research, which was prepared by using the literature scanning and analysis method, together with the historical process of original printing techniques; To reveal its development in Turkey as of 1950, is to examine the print samples of Academician Artist Süleyman Saim Tekcan, one of the pioneers of the art of printmaking, in terms of technique and compositions.
