Abstract (EN)
Children, who are defined as disadvantaged groups due to their rights and nature, face many difficulties. One of the most important of these difficulties is child labour, which has been and continues from the past to the present. Work that prevents children from living their childhood and harms their physical and mental development is defined as child labour. In the first part, conceptual definitions of child labor are made and the most common causes of child labor on a global basis are explained. In the second part of the study, it is examined how the cinema reflects the society's point of view towards child labor in Turkish cinema films with scenes where children work in Turkey in the 1960s and 1970s, with the thought that movies are a source of data about the reflection and period of the society they live in. In the third chapter, Turkish cinema films, which constitute our sample, were tried to be coded using the Nvivo10 package program and themes were obtained. The aim of the research is to understand and interpret the internal structures of the phenomenon of child labor within the framework of films that reflect the perspective of the society as of the period of study. Document analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Due to the reflection of the libertarian structures of the 1960s and 1970s on movies, these periods constitute the scope and limitation of the study. For this purpose, only two films that contain child labor were found, and the films "Beyond the Nights" and Yusuf and Kenan were included in the analysis. Using the Nvivo10 package program, coding, categorization and extracting the themes were carried out, and theme analysis, descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were applied accordingly. According to the findings of the research, it was seen that the components of child labor such as poverty, family structure, forced labor, gaining experience were compatible with the literature. According to the findings obtained from the data, themes such as the search for a job by child workers, the control factor for the phenomenon, the situation of being driven to crime, the effect of working conditions on children, and the situation of creating awareness of working at a young age have emerged. Although there are many studies on the phenomenon of child labor, the importance of the research is high due to the scarcity of studies that explore and interpret the internal structure of the concept in the 1960s and 1970s nationally. In this context, it is thought that the research will contribute to the literature so that we can comprehend the phenomenon of child labor from the perspective of the society and integrate it with today's child labor phenomenon.
