Abstract (EN)

Textile structures the form of clothing by creating an aesthetic, visual and conceptual language with the boundaries of the body. Clothing form has been one of the means by which artists and designers in art and fashion can express themselves aesthetically, conceptually and culturally throughout history. It is clear that the environment of art and thought played an effective role in textile art, especially in the post-1960 period, when the orientation to the form of clothing increased with the three-dimensional forms. The interpretation of clothing, which has turned into a means of expression in art disciplines as a form and concept, and its transformation into an art object is considered remarkable in terms of research. Forms of clothing and the use of clothing as ready-made objects, which have been put forward within the framework of various artistic trends since the 1960s, will contribute to the explanation of the position of textiles and thus of clothing in contemporary art. The thesis titled "Clothing Form in Textile Art Since 1960 and Its Transformation into Art Object" aims to examine the approaches in which clothing is perceived and interpreted in a new way as a form and concept in parallel with the changes in contemporary art disciplines, especially in textile art. Within the framework of this purpose, the historical and intellectual infrastructure of textile art in the interdisciplinary context, the factors that formed the foundations of art after 1960 were discussed under the title of "Post-1960 Art Environment". After 1960, clothing and clothing form in contemporary art works turned into a means of expression with the disappearance of the boundaries between disciplines. Under the title of "Clothing as an Expression Tool in Art Since 1960", the forms of clothing that are abstracted from the body, the separation of clothing from its traditional role, and the emergence of its conceptual dimension are revealed. Many conceptual works produced in the postmodern period are fed by art history and philosophical thought systems. In this framework, since it is thought that the subject will be more readable on a theoretical basis, Postmodern Thought Systems are included in the first part of the research. Under the title of "Expressions on Clothing Form-Disembodied Clothing Works", samples of the works were transferred through reference artists. Since the 1960s, textile and fiber artists have produced conceptual works in the field of clothing art, fiber art and wearable art. Under the title of "Clothing Form in Textile Art Since 1960", in the first section, attention is drawn to the concepts represented by textile, which is an artistic expression tool with its plastic possibilities, through the form of clothing, as well as textile materials and techniques, as well as works in the form of clothing produced with different materials and techniques in fiber art. The artists, who use the clothing representing the body as a ready-made object in their works, are interested in the feature of the clothing that explores the past and represents what is not there. In the second part, the garment, which plays the role of conveying certain concepts instead of its basic function in contemporary art, is looked at from the perspective of "Clothing as a Ready Made Object in Contemporary Art". Artist performances, which look at clothing and clothing from a new perspective and highlight the multifaceted experiences of the audience, are discussed in the section titled "Clothing as Performance in Contemporary Art". The works, in which material and process-oriented textile applications are put forward as performances, are examined in terms of the interaction between the garment and the artist, the garment and the audience. Finally, in the personal and original works produced within the scope of the subject, the transformation of clothing as a form and concept into an art object with the accumulation of memory is discussed.
