Social democratization process of the Republican People's Party between 1961- 1980 years

This study examines the social democratization process of the Republican People's Party (RPP) from 1961 to 1980 and analyzes the RPP's search for a new identity and direction. When the RPP change is examined Turkey's transformation has experienced in 1960 are also analyzed. From the national struggle to the multi-party political life transition, the RPP has sought identity after twenty-seven years of uninterrupted power. This process, which started in the second half of the 1950s, led to a new stage with the middle left in the 1960s. RPP 1960s theoretical and practical learning process from the socialist left. In 1972, Bülent Ecevit became a general leader and left the Democratic Left in the middle of the RPP, an important stage of the social democratization process. Social democratic model proposal and original policy models were created by the RPP in this period. In the first part of the study, historical development of social democracy, conceptual analysis and analyzes of social democratic thinkers were examined. From the 19th century until the welfare state, the golden age of post-World War II social democracy, this process reveals the evolutionary nature of social democracy. In the second chapter between 1961- 1980 Turkey's economic, political and social structural analysis is examined. In order to examine the RPP's social democratization process from 1961 to 1980 structural changes in Turkey during this period is an important. In the third chapter, the process of social democratization of RPP has been examined by internal and external factors. It was analyzed that the change in RPP between 1961-1980 was triggered by actors in and out of the party. As a conclusion in this study, RPP experienced a social democratization process between 1961 and 1980 which is a process that is formed by the effects of both internal and external factors. By synthesizing the RPP universal principles of social democracy from 1961 to 1980 with local values is a social democratic party which forms a specific model in Turkey.
