Abstract (EN)

Developments of the foreign policy of the Republic of Turkey had to be shaped by its inheritor, the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian deportation case, which took place during the Ottoman period, caused the Republic of Turkey not only to receive support from many states in its foreign policy relations but also many confrontations. Especially France has a great influence on these surging relations. France has a substantial role in shaping the Armenian issue in terms of its political position and the serious numbers of diaspora Armenians that it contains. The candidacy of the Republic of Turkey to the European Union affects its activities and directives within the United Nations and causes impediments in some periods. As of the 50th anniversary of the Armenian deportation done by the Ottoman Empire in 1914, Armenians that claims Armenian Genocide and many countries supporting, politicians, artists, some foreign nongovernmental and public organizations have emerged, and these protests continue to operate. The allegations that the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey committed genocide against Armenian citizens in Anatolia during the First World War were pontificated by Armenian lobbies. Relations between France and the Republic of Turkey, one of the countries where these lobbies are high in number, have progressed controversially. In our study, an evaluation of the Armenian deportation, the 50th anniversary of the deportation and the events until 2000 will be made within the scope of Turkey-France relations. Keywords: Armenian, France, Ottoman Empire, Relocation, Republic of Turkey
