Abstract (EN)

The subject of this thesis "the perception of the state that Islamists discussed in the pages of journals in Turkey from 1980 to 2000". In this context, the dissertation has been examined the ways in which Islamists in Turkey perceive the state with their approach to the state, based on articles published in Islamist journals. Political developments affect society and intellectuals undoubtedly. Among the political, intellectual discussion topics of Islamists from 1980s to 2000s; A number of issues such as the Islamic State, moving away from the concepts of the Islamic State, adopting the modern state, and the Islamization of the concepts of the modern state have been problematized and discussed. In our thesis, the change of Islamist political discourse between 1980-2000, the dimensions of this change reflected in journals were observed and the perception of the state in the Islamist imagination was tried to be revealed. The journals İktibas, Girişim, Tevhid, Bilgi ve Hikmet, Değişim, Umran and Haksöz, which came to the fore with their political attitude and styles between 1980 and 2000, are the journals we have examined in our research. General information about the purpose, scope, method, subject and literature review of the thesis is included in chapter I. The stages and historical developments of Islamism in Turkey were examined in chapter II. In chapter III, main items/certain/leading Modern state and Islamic state debates in the literature of Islamism were examined. In chapter IV of the thesis, the main Islamist journals published between 1980-2000 were examined and the 'Islamic State' approach and the 'Modern nation-state' approaches were evaluated. As a result, how the perception of the modern state and Islamic state of Islamists in Turkey is shaped in Islamic journals were examined and it is discussed which concepts this perception is shaped around.
