Abstract (EN)

This study is about how Turkish cinema deal with poverty after 1980. In this respect, firstly the conceptual framework of poverty is described. Secondly, poverty after 1980s in Turkey and its differentiation from past situation and perception are discussed. Finally, the character of poverty introduced in the selected films determined and its relation with dominant economic and social determinant of that period revealed.Poverty, having sociological and political meaning as well as economic, is still an existent problem today as in the past. Changing economic and social policies after 80s have also changed approaches related poverty.
