Progress of conservatist identity in Turkey after 1980 and political parties

ABSTRACTConservatism that has started to take place in history of political ideas after FrenchRevolution, opposed radical change movements of axis of enlightenment period andFrench Revolution. Edmund Burke?s criticisms on French Revolution, has formedthe basic reference point in terms of tradition of conservatist idea. Concept ofconservatism that don?t bring definite agreement about, within the process has beenadvanced in two way named by American conservatism and Continental Europeanconcervatism.Concepts such as tradition, family, religion, authority, order and practicalknowladge perceive key word function in terms of understanding of basiccharacteristic of convervatism.Turkish conservatism that has lived establishment period around periodical ofDergah, has taken under the effect of Bergson Philosophy at the beginning. Turkishconservatism as criticizing excessiveness created by revolutions of Republic has notclashed with new regime and it defended its own sensitivity within the scope ofcultural conservatism that contained subjects such as tradition, literature, history andreligion. Along with passing the multi party system, effects of political conservatismhas also appeared.One of the most important characteristic of the Turkish conservatism is the idea ofthe protection of traditional, moral and spiritual values along with improvements onsocio-economic fields. In Turkey, social base of conservatism has enlarged in thelight of ahead of 1980?s internal political situation and external effects.Real addres of political conservatism in Turkey is central rightist parties butconservatism has not been clear ideological approach in central righist parties.Motherland Party, has strived to melt different ideological approaches in onecrucible and generally joined together that approaches at a common point ofconservatism. True Path Party, has protected the conservatist sensitivity ofDemocrat Party-Juctice Party tradition but conservatist tendency has not been clearas in Motherland Party. As for Justice and Development Party, it has taken one stepahead in terms of conservatism because of the reason that for the first time it hastried systematically to form concept of conservatism as a party identity but it has notgotten rid of structural problems in terms of acceptance of ideological identity to outof party circles.
