Current account deficit problem from the presence in Turkey 1990

Current account deficit in recent years has become one of Turkey's most important structural problem. However, there are many factors that cause the current deficit to increase. Especially in Turkey's economy since the 1990s, structural problems such as the emergence of the external resource inputs, total outstanding external debt, import and exports in the current account deficit has had a greater impact. Therefore, between the years 1984-2017 are discussed in this study the factors causing the current account deficit in Turkey's economy. In this study, causal relationship between import, export, total outstanding external debt, external resource inputs and current account deficit datas in Turkey between the years 1984-2017 were analyzed econometric. In the study, ADF and PP unit root tests were applied to stabilize the series, and it was seen that the variables were not stable at the level and stabilized when the first differences were taken. That is, all three series are at I (1) level. Granger's causality test revealed that there is a one-way relationship from the external resource inputs to the current account deficit. Again, there is a one-way causality relationship from external resource inputs, import relation to the total outstanding external debt. Moreover, there is one way causality relationship between from external resource inputs to import. There is one way causality relationship between from external resource inputs to export. In the Johansen Cointegration analysis, cointegrated vector was found in every variables. Thus, there is long-run relationship between current account deficit, import, total outstanding external debt, external resource inputs and exports.
