Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Societies gradually remain under the effect of the technalagy and orient for specialization so that they may keep pace with the rapid progress. Progressive dynamic's dependence on the science and technology gives rise to be received at topmost levels in the concerned institutions on the part of the individuals included in the labor force. Thus, the higher educational institutions gain more and more attraction, consequently, are up against the demands which are on the increase in Turkey having a young and rapidly growing population. Number of the students admitted to the aforemmentioned higher educational institutions is, on the other hand, limited. The imbalance noticed in the suhhly and demand made it absolutely necessary for a system to be developed as to choosing and placing the students to be admitted to the higher educational programs foreseen. When examined, every fourth candidates are observed to have been placed in a higher edicational institution. Thus, the seriousness of the entrance examinations held is readily perceived to increase day by day. İzmir is one of the most successful cities in terms of the entrance examinations to the higher educational institutions on a Turkey scale. That's why we aim at determining the factors of the achievements of those candidates who already had won the so-called exams which they took in İzmir, through the present research studies. The researcn in question is in the model of tarana. The data have been collected from 165 students through the use of a questionnaire of 139 articles, Which was developed by the present researcher in the form of likert type. Thanks to the method SPSS, the dependability coefficients were found. VIThe dependability coefficient of the scale is. 9693. The data were presented as percentages, arithmetical averages and stadart deviatons at the tables. II factors group obtained by means of the factor analysis is as follows; The environment shared by the teachers an the students, properties related to the students, classrooms (as units aiming at training the students for the entrance examinations), rulers, families, parents (here those who are closely concerned with the students' affairs are meant), School fecilities, participation in the social activities, environment, rural way of life, other personal features, internal motivation, external motivation and environment Participation extents of the subjects under discussion in affecting the ÖYS achievements of these factorial groups; Sexuality, kinds of the schools finished, marks obtained during the entrance examinations to the higher educational institutions, the pereferanceorder in the institutional programs, degrees obtained while finishing schools, family educational situations, duty area, income situation, attendance at the private or public establishments aiming at improving the already had knowledge of high school training outside the basic training school of candidates have been examined and Flesti and varience anamysis have been applied. Also, Scheffe test has been utilized in order to determine the source of the consi derable deviations. Views of the subjects who took part in the present investigation; -In accordance with their sexualities; " Features concerned with the students, families, internal motivation", - In confirmity with the kinds of the high schools finished; "School facilities", - Considering the marks had at the entrance examinations to the higher educational institutions; "The medium at which the teachers and candidates are found irt common", VII- According to the preference order concerning the higher educational institutions; "external motivation and social enviroment", - By considering the degrees that came into possesion of the primary school finishers; "Clasroom(training centers)", - In commpliance with the degrees received following the finish of the Middle Schools; "The environment shared by the teachers and the candidates in common", "properties in relation with the candidates", "rulers", "families" "external motivation" and social environment", - What With the degreess abtained after finishing the high schools; "Features relavant to the candidates", "rulers", "families", - Being suited to the educational degrees owned by the mothers; "Rulers", - According to the educational degrees owned by the fathers; "Teachers"," and the activities and the environment", - In accordance with the duty fields of the mothers; "Rulers" The jiews of the students have indicated considerable variations in terms of the participation extent of the internal motivation factor in affecting the OYSachievements considering the fact that they receive either private or public training aiming at improving their knowledge that they had already acquired at their own schools (in addition to the training programs of their own schools). No noteworthy variations have been determined with respect to the family incomes. VIII
