The progressions at imam-hatip high schools in period after 1997 (Adana sample)

As known, advanture of Imam-Hatip Schools have begun by Law of Tevhid-i Tedrisat,in 1929-1930 school year, due to lack of demand for attendance to Imam-Hatip Schools,theese schools have been closed. Imam-Hatip Schools that they have stopped much duration,had opened again because of neccesity in 1950.Until 1997, demand of theese schools increased, but law numbered 4306 whichincreased the compulsory basic education to eight years, decreased the demand for theeseschools, at a significant rate. Middle classes of Imam-Hatip High Schools was closed becausethis law. So, this law have been a new turning point for Imam- Hatip High schools.The general objective of this research is to determine the place of Imam-Hatip HighSchools in the Turkish Edocation System and to put into on the factors that effect the demandfor theese schools, expectations, problems and profile of students. In the direction of thisgeneral purpose, we took up Imam-Hatip Schools beginnig from madrasahs that they bring upreligious officer in the period before Republic, in the historical process.The universe of the research is formed by the tenth and eleventh class studentsattending at three Imam- Hatip High Schools located in the Centrum of the city of Adana. Thestudents at tenth and eleventh classes of Imam-Hatip High Schools contained in the universeof the study are determined by using the ?simple random sampling? method. A Survey form isdeveloped and used as a tool to collect information and it was applied to 170 students by theresearcher. There are total 34 questions in rhe survey questionary. Data attained by surveyingare analyzed with SPSS For Windows Package.Imam-Hatip Schools/High Schools have taken part at Turkish National EducationSystem since they were established, and have been continuing secondary educationassocations which can adapted to all applications at the general secondary education, toeducation life.Key Words: Imam-Hatip Schools, Law of Tevhid- i Tedrisat, Religious Officer
