Abstract (EN)

The aviation sector is one of the most preferred modes of transportation today due to its speed, safety, and ability to cover long distances with ease. Commercial air transport plays an indispensable role in both individual travel and global trade. This extensive usage inevitably leads to various disputes concerning passenger transportation agreements. The 1999 Montreal Convention is an important document aimed at protecting passenger rights in international air transportation. This thesis examines the effects of the Convention on passenger transportation contracts, the responsibilities of carriers, and the rights of passengers. The Convention imposes an obligation on carriers to compensate passengers within specific limits in cases of death or injury. Additionally, it is emphasized that the obligations of carriers towards passengers are regulated within defined limits, making compensation claims more accessible and clearly outlining the carrier's responsibilities. In conclusion, the Montreal Convention is an important step in protecting passenger rights and clarifying carrier responsibilities in international air transportation. However, it is emphasized that the implementation of this regulation needs to be consistent on a global scale. Furthermore, the correct understanding of carrier responsibilities and passengers' compensation rights helps increase trust in the airline industry and makes international transportation safer.
