Investigation of activity of 2,2',3,4-tetrahydroxy-3'-nitro-5'-sulphoazobenzene in spectrophotometric determination of copper in water

Lale Zor 2002, 72 pages In this study, spectrophotometric determination of copper was done in drinking water sample by using 2,2',3,4-tetrahydroxy-3'-nitro-5'- sulphoazobenzene (tetrahydroxyazon NS) Iigand and activity of method was investigated. In the first stage of the study, the coloured complex of copper(II) ion and tetrahydroxyazone NS Iigand was formed in aqueous media and then the wavelenght which gives maximum absorbance of complex and the selectivity of Iigand to different metal ion were established. In the second stage of the study, calibration curves of copper(II) ion in the presence of cadmium(n)-zinc(II) and manganese(II)-zinc(II) ions were drawn respectively and copper(II) ion was determined by spectrophotometre in water. At the last stage, the results were compared with informed results in the literature and activity of method was investigated.
