Examination of substance addiction and family relationships in young people aged 20-30 (Iğdır example)

Substance abuse is the use of various substances that cause deterioration in the functions of the body and the continuation of use despite the deterioration in these functions. Substance use is one of the most important problems affecting public health. Substance addiction, which can be seen in children, adolescents and young adults, has a global impact and is becoming increasingly dangerous. There are many reasons leading to substance use, the most important of which is the person's sense of curiosity and research motivation. In addition, it is known that the immediate environment influences substance use. Family, on the other hand, refers to a concept whose parts are interconnected within the framework of the systems approach. Communication, role sharing, relationships and power distribution in this integrity help to create balance within the family. Substance use causes the disintegration of this existing systematic structure and prepares the environment for all kinds of crises in the family. In this regard, it is very important for family members to have accurate and relevant information about substance use and to raise awareness of their approach towards the individual who uses drugs. In this study, an examination was made on the role of family relationships in substance addiction and addictions of youth aged 20-30, who are among the risky groups for substance use, and the study was planned to cover the province of Iğdır.
