Abstract (EN)

In this study which is raising one of the prominent composers of the Western Classical Music Arnold Schoenberg's Op. 17 Erwartung Opera, review was carried out by discussing the musical and dramatic structures of the work. When considering Modernism is a flow showing various features have evolved in the 20th century, the scope of review is limited effects of early 20th century modernism. This current situation at the beginning of the century has the basic structures that have an impact on Erwartung. These structures are the era's political, economic and cultural structures which are in interaction with its nature. Therefore, the methodology of the study with the qualitative research approach was followed to maintain the examination of the study in a sociological integrity. It conducted an extensive literature review aimed to provide the most accurate results. This study which evaluates Arnold Schoenberg's art over his era and place, aims to show the art style and idea of the composer clearly. At the end of this study concluded that the most important result is revealing a large field for research based on the modern opera which has nothing to be seen beside the classical opera tradition. This study aims to be an important guide for opera performances and opera education in Turkey, was completed at the same time hoping to contribute to the needed modern Turkish opera literature.
